Friends of Julie
Are you a Friend of Julie? So are We! Welcome to JAJF- where we create WOW! Experiences on behalf of families who need a timeout from cancer. The best way to remember Julie Porzio and her wish to give families more time together is to join us when we Share The WOW!
We are most proud to carry on the legacy of FOJ and Julie’s spirit. Welcome!
Wife, mother, friend, sister, daughter, aunt, remarkable, fun, compassionate, strong, beautiful…these are all words used to describe Julie Anne Porzio. In July 2006 Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer and beat it. In 2008 the cancer returned and metastasized to her liver, spreading to her abdomen. Sadly, Julie passed away in May 2010.
Julie was cautious not to allow her cancer diagnosis to monopolize her life. She considered herself fortunate to have had the ability to experience life to its fullest during her final years. Together with her husband and daughter, she experienced many vacations and was able to make memories that will last forever.
Her positive energy and compassion were felt by many. Julie was touched by the people she met during her treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute – both her caretakers and fellow patients. She wanted to give something back to them and others whom she had not yet met.
Julie decided that since time with her family was the most important thing to her, she would try to figure out a way to deliver the gift of meaningful family time to others. Julie’s spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her friends and family and through Friends of Julie and JAJF.
