Notable chefs from Atlanta, across the Southeast and beyond hosted an evening to remember, raising funds to help create memories of a lifetime
On Thursday, Nov. 21, The St. Regis Atlanta hosted its sixth-annual Out of the Kitchen event for charity, welcoming more than 240 guests for a memorable evening of fine dining and philanthropy. Through ticket sales and auction items, more than $560K was raised to support the Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation (JAJF) and its mission to provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences for families with loved ones battling late-stage cancer.
“Out of the Kitchen is a hallmark event for everyone on our team, and we are honored to welcome Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation back to The St. Regis Atlanta this year,” shared Guntram Merl, General Manager of The St. Regis Atlanta. “Having this caliber of chefs volunteering their time for a very special cause, many of them returning for their fifth or sixth year of this event, shows their level of dedication and we’re very lucky to work with them.”
Taking place in the hotel’s grand Astor Ballroom, the evening offered guests a memorable dining experience crafted by some of the region's finest culinary talent. Sixteen of this year’s 20 chefs have taken part in Out of the Kitchen since its start in 2017, including Deedee Niyomkul of Nan Thai Buckhead, Pan Karatassos of Kyma and Philippe Haddad of PGH Hospitality. Newcomers to the event include Luigi De Guzman representing The St. Regis Toronto and Alexander Gut of the Tampa EDITION. The evening concluded with a pastry and dessert showcase, expertly crafted by the hotel’s Pastry Chef, LaShanta Smith, leaving guests with a sweet finale to close the night.
“It was another magnificent and powerful evening for JAJF, and It’s worth reiterating, there's no celebration of our first 19 years and there's no $560K raised (and growing) without the goodwill, compassion and enthusiastic hospitality shown by The St. Regis Atlanta and Tavistock,” shared Jon Albert, Founder and President, Jack & Jill Late-Stage Cancer Foundation. “It was an exquisite event, poignant yet high energy, and another remarkable opportunity that broadened our base of investors, reminding our guests that cancer does not stop, and neither will JAJF.”
Bids for the highly sought-after Albany, Bahamas package started the excitement for the evening, with a winning tag of $30,500 and included a four-day, three-night stay for seven guests, spa treatments and golf experiences. Additional lots included travel and dining packages for luxury trips across the U.S. and Mexico.
The foundation was created in honor of Jill and Jon Albert's real life journey following Jill’s cancer diagnosis. On Nov. 15, 2006, Jill lost her battle with cancer, leaving behind Jon and their two young children. JAJF supporters recognize that cancer impacts not just parents, but also their children and loved ones, and works to give families a chance to pause, connect and create lasting, positive memories together. The organization is committed to ensuring that life continues to be lived fully, even after a cancer diagnosis.

About the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation (JAJF)
JAJF, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit, treats children facing the looming loss of their Mom or Dad to cancer through an extraordinary family trip called WOW! Experiences®. These trips are an oncologist-prescribed timeout as part of treatment protocol so that the family can take a timeout from late-stage cancer to create positive, cherished memories while they can. JAJF is the only organization of its kind in the country addressing this overlooked, underserved population.
JAJF’s impact has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, TODAY SHOW, NBC's Sunday Night Football, and CNN by Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Since its inception in 2006, the organization has become important nationally for its life-changing work for young families facing late-stage cancer.
